Honorary membership of Professor Ali Akbar Moosavi-Movahedi in FIrBS
To benefit from the experiences of prominent and distinguished Scientists in life sciences, the Life and Honorary membership certificate (HM-FIrBS) was awarded to Professor Ali Akbar Moosavi-Movahedi, during a ceremony attended by the heads and representatives of the member societies and the board of directors of FIrBS, held in the secretariat of the Federation at University of Tehran and virtually on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021.
In the beginning, Mehran Habibi-Rezaei, the president of FIrBS stressed the need for the continuous benefit of the life sciences community from the presence and experiences of thinkers, veterans, and influential scientists in various fields of life sciences, after presenting a report on the activities and approaches of the federation. He pointed out that honoring the Scientist is honoring the Science. He further announced the granting of honorary membership to Distinguished Professor Mousavi-Movahedi as one of the honors of the FIrBS. Professor Moosavi-Movahedi, an influential scientist in biological sciences, stressed the need for cooperation and communication at national and international levels. He said that the necessary condition for the development of science is cooperation and synergy between scientists and scientific institutions while emphasizing the importance of unifying approaches and the position of the FIrBS. This wise Professor valued the federation's board of directors' ongoing actions and advised the FIrBS member societies to cooperate more than ever in achieving the federation's goals while also considering it essential to pay attention to strengthening the FIrBS's website.
It should be noted that the FIrBS is the first registered federation in the Commission of the scientific societies of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology (MSRT). It aims to attain goals on its agenda at cooperation, synergy, and purposeful convergence of bio-related societies and organizations at the national, regional, and international levels. Recent activities of the FIrBS include active participation in the environment, biodiversity, strengthening cooperation between life sciences and medicine, and pursuing collaboration between life sciences societies in the ECO region comprising ten countries.
